Digital UV Photography and Recording Bite Marks |
Join us for two sessions that look into the use of photography in legal
matters.
From Crime Scene to Courtroom – Presenting
Forensic Evidence Interactively
In the first session, From 1998 electronic interactive presentations have been
used by the Queensland Police Service to record major crime scenes and then present this visual evidence in
Court. This has been an evolutionary process where changes in technology have opened up many new imaging
options including the use of a Spheron automated scanning camera which dramatically speeds up the process of
creating a virtual walk- through of crime scenes.
Digital UV Photography and Recording Bite
Marks
Changing over from film to digital media to record historical bitemarks has
presented problems for photographers from the Qld Police Service. The sourcing of peripheral equipment to
successfully capture ultra violet images with Fuji S3 Pro UVIR digital camera has been a challenge in itself.
Now, success has been achieved in recovering bitemark detail 2 months after the event with instant
results.

Leitch, Queensland Police Service
