FotoNation partners with 6Sight Future of Imaging Conference to find the world’s
foremost facial imaging scientists
As part of 2007 “Digital Eye” theme, attendees to hear from top
researchers
San Mateo, Calif – FotoNation®, http://www.fotonation.com, a world-leading independent provider of embedded imaging
solutions for the digital camera industry, announced today a partnership with Future Image Inc., PMA and the
Association of Imaging Executives (AIE) for the 2007 6Sight® Future of Imaging Conference. The two-day
executive event will focus on the explosive global spread of imaging technology and its potential for
exciting new opportunities to improve people’s lives in the work, home and community spheres. Under the
agreement, FotoNation is inaugurating its sponsorship of the “Leaders of Innovation – The Human Face” session
highlighting some of the world’s foremost university researchers in facial identification and facial
recognition and other face-based imaging technologies. This year’s focus will be on imaging research that is
applicable to digital cameras and mobile camera phones. FotoNation will solicit invitations, evaluate
submissions and determine the finalists that will present at the conference. The 2007 6Sight conference will
be held Nov. 8-9 at the Monterey Conference Center in Monterey, California.
Digital Eye is one of the key themes of this year’s conference, which will examine the drive to capture and
store data that faithfully reproduces our experience of vision – ultra-high image quality, motion, depth and
more. As a silver sponsor, FotoNation will make a major contribution to this theme at the 6Sight event.
“We have a rich and successful history of working closely with academia to commercialize some of the most
cutting edge research in embedded image processing. Research in face detection is still in its infancy and
there are a tremendous amount of new capabilities that can be brought to the mass market,” said Eran
Steinberg, CEO, FotoNation Inc. “The 6Sight conference is one of the premier forums in our industry and we
look forward to presenting the latest research to the market leaders who will be attending.”
“The human face has always been the single most important focus of imaging, from the earliest days of the
photography industry to today’s face-detecting cameras,” said Alexis Gerard, President of Future Image, Chair
of the 6Sight conference and author of ‘Going Visual.’ “We’re excited to be working with Fotonation, a
renowned technology and thought leader in this area, to bring the very latest in world-wide research to the
6Sight event as part of our ‘Digital Eye’ theme.”
