Scrapbooks honor the past and preserve it for future generations . . . Scrapbook retailers are primary guides in that process

JACKSON, Mich. - Members of the Professional Scrapbook Retailers Organizationtm - a PMA member association bringing together scrapbook retailers who help consumers enhance their treasured photographs - will gather for the second PSRO Annual Convention, Feb. 26 - March 1, 2006 at the Orange County Convention Center, West Building, Orlando, Fla., USA.
At PSRO 2006, scrapbook retailers - and other retailers who want to add scrapbooking to their mix - will find everything they need to know about running (and improving) their scrapbook stores.
Sessions will focus on marketing and advertising, accounting, visual merchandising, increasing store traffic, providing top-notch customer service, analyzing market research, teaching scrapbook classes, and learning how to tame the purchasing and selling processes to keep stock turning over consistently.
Attendees can find out how to take better photos for scrapbooks; learn the basics of posing, lighting, color correction guidelines and resources to help customers; and learn how to increase cash flow by encouraging customers to organize and print those precious memories.
Retailers will learn how to become experts in their communities on taking, organizing, sharing and printing digital images; and how to create a niche to cultivate unique customers. Collaboration with other industry stores will help scrapbook retailers gain buying power, market information and resources.
Participants will discover the benefits of cross-selling merchandise - both new and existing - for increased sales, and learn how to keep the store environment fresh and fun while making every square inch count.
PSROtm Director Jeanne Wines-Reed, founder and publisher of Scrapbook Retailer magazine and affectionately dubbed the "Ambassador of Good Will for Scrapbooking," will teach the business fundamentals of scrapbooking and will be on hand to sign copies of her new book, "Digital Scrapbooking for Dummies," co-authored with her mother, Joan Wines.
Wines-Reed also will lead a PSRO Guided Trade Show Tour, a scrapbook retailer-customized tour highlighting the scrapbook, custom framing and international pavilions. Returning for the second year, the scrapbook pavilion is dedicated to suppliers who are part of this growing $2 billion industry. This colorful and energetic area on the Trade Show floor will feature scrapbooking demonstrations during Trade Show hours.
Other key figures on hand from the scrapbooking industry include: Doug Rowan of Zoom Albums who will discuss "The Future of Digital Photography in the Scrapbook Industry"; Kent Chesley, president of Ellison, on "Balancing Purchasing and Inventory for Greatest Profits"; and Steve Ruelle from Making Memories with "Competitive Differentiation and Increased Earnings Through Understanding Research Information."
Memories can fade but images shouldn't - and the education and resources offered by the PSRO Annual Convention will help scrapbook retailers and their customers preserve the past for generations to come.
