PPFA Certified Picture Framer (CPF) Program
In developing the PPFA Certified Picture Framer (CPF) Program, PPFA sought the
expertise of industry leaders representing a wide range of educational backgrounds and proven talents in the
picture framing industry. The objectives of the PPFA Certification program include:
| - Raising the standards of the profession. |
| - Encouraging self-assessment by offering guidelines for
achievement. |
| - Identifying individuals with acceptable knowledge of principles and
practices of the profession. |
| - Awarding recognition to those who have met the established
criteria. |
| - Improving education within the industry by encouraging participation in
continuing education programs. |

Through the PPFA Certified Picture Framer (CPF) Program, you can test your knowledge in
the five exam content areas: Preservation, General Knowledge, Mechanical, Math and Mounting…and earn the
framer's mark of excellence, the CPF designation. More than 3,800 individuals worldwide have achieved CPF
status since the program's inception in 1986.
Any picture framer who has a minimum of one year of hands-on experience in retail or wholesale picture
framing may apply for certification.
Interested candidates must register at least two weeks in advance of the test. Cost of the exam is $225 US
($290 CDN) for members, $325 US ($415 CDN) for nonmembers and $150 US ($195 CDN) for
retakes.

Online Certification Request
Do you live in a remote area? Can’t make it to your local chapter meeting to take
the CPF® exam? Online certification is an option for you. PPFA® has teamed with Prometric Inc., a division of
Thomson Learning and Netcertification Inc., to administer the CPF exam by computer at Thomson Prometric Test
Centers. Complete the
request form to get started!
Scholarships Available
PPFA members may also apply for the L. Thomas McKeon, CPF Scholarship awarded to
five individuals each year. The scholarship includes a full set of CPF recommended study books and a sitting
for the exam. Applications for the scholarship must be received no later than Aug. 1 to be considered for
scholarships awarded for the following calendar year. The five scholarship winners will be named on or before
Oct. 31 each year. Current PPFA members or employees of member businesses may apply.
