The International Photographic Council (IPC) is a multinational, non-profit, non-commercial organization—and a non-governmental organization (NGO) of the United Nations—composed of representatives from every major sector of the photographic industry. Founded in 1974, the IPC is dedicated to increasing worldwide recognition of photography as a universal means of communication through the adoption of the motto “Peace through Understanding, Understanding through Photography, the Universal Language.
Consistent with all professional photography members of the IPC, the primary objective of the award is to honor the most outstanding individual within each constituency. Nominations should identify the elite of our profession who have devoted their career to professional photography and excelled in their craft.
The award is given in recognition of photographic excellence and is awarded to one professional photographer in each of the five member organizations that comprise the IPC. The IPC considers nominee’s experience, expertise, previous recognition from professional organizations, and personal, as well as professional, letters of recommendation in support of the nomination.
Additional information may be obtained by visiting www.ipc-un-ngo.org.
Recipients of the Professional Photographer Leadership Awards are selected from the membership of each of five professional photography organizations: the Advertising Photographers of America (APA); the American Society of Media Photographers (ASMP); the Professional Photographers of America (PPA); the Professional School Photographers Association International (PSPA); and the White House News Photographers Association (WHNPA).
Nominations for this award are accepted each November. If you are interested in submitting someone for consideration in light of this criteria please complete the form and submit it.
