2009 DIMA Photo Book Showcase
The Digital Imaging Marketing Association (DIMA) announces the 2nd Annual DIMA Photo Book Showcase to be held at PMA 09, March 3-5, 2009, at the Las Vegas Convention Center. DIMA has always excelled at providing venues in which side-by-side comparisons can be made for the purpose of evaluating various options in photo imaging technologies. The DIMA Photo Book Showcase will present all aspects of photo book production for attendees of PMA 09 to evaluate side-by-side.

Eligibility
You are eligible to participate in the DIMA Photo Book Showcase at no cost if your company is an exhibitor at PMA 09 – OR – is part of an exhibit with another company during the Trade Show. Non-exhibiting companies may participate in the DIMA Photo Book Showcase for a small fee per entry.

Deadline
The deadline for entering the 2009 DIMA Photo Book Showcase is Friday, January 9, 2009. No entries will be accepted after this date.

Evaluation
Entries will be evaluated by a group of “regular” consumers who are most likely to order photo books in a home or retail setting.

The Categories
The six categories that will be evaluated include Software - Desktop Client, Software - Online, Covers & Binding, Paper, Finished Books - In-Store Production and Finished Books  - Wholesale/Off-Site Production. The following criteria will be used in evaluating:

Ease of use in creating book (easy, moderate, difficult)
Font selection (a good variety, a basic selection, not enough)
Page layouts (a good variety, a basic selection, not enough)
Page designs/themes (very appealing, moderate, all unappealing)
Auto fill options (yes, no)
Can the retailer add his own photo book page designs to the software to offer the customer? (yes or no)
Can users add pages if the created book has more pages/photos than fit in the standard book? (yes, no)
Speed of creation not including printing (fast, medium, slow)
Overall experience (excellent, good, poor)
 
3. Covers & Binding
Cover options (very limited, good selection, many options)
Cover quality (poor, decent, good, excellent)
Strength/reliability of bind (poor, decent, good, excellent)
  
4.Paper
Paper options (very limited, good selection, many options)
Paper quality (excellent, good, poor)
 
5. Finished Books - In-Store Production (printers less than 70ppm)
Print quality (poor, decent, good, excellent)
Quality of design (poor, decent, good, excellent)
Overall value based on retail price (poor, decent, good, excellent)

Logistics
Finished books and/or software will need to be received at PMA headquarters no later than January 9, 2009. Books and software will be displayed by category at the DIMA Photo Book Showcase on the PMA 09 trade show March 3-5, 2009.
